Public transport information

Practical assistance for travel by bus and train

One of the main stumbling blocks to the use of public transport is unfamiliarity. We will help you ensure that staff and visitors are well informed about public transport options to your site.

Information on the web

Metro's web site www.wymetro.com includes a number of practical tools to help with travel by public transport. There is a Journey Planner for bus and train travel in West Yorkshire, copies of all timetables to download and real time information through the yournextbus service. To help keep track of changes to bus services we publish 'Changing Times' to enable you to check for anything affecting your site(s).

We encourage your organisation to create links from your own internet and intranet sites to our web site.

Information by phone Metroline 0113 245 7676

Friendly advice about bus and rail times, general fares information, where to catch your bus, whether you need to make a connection, and much more. MetroLine is open from 0700 to 2200 daily (except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day). We encourage you to publicise Metroline on your literature, staff handbooks, intranet etc.

Employees’ Guide to public transport in West Yorkshire

This leaflet summarises key information for commuters and includes a handy “pull off and pocket” information card. We can send you supplies free of charge for staff induction packs, desk mailouts etc.

Information to hand

Printed copies of timetables, maps and leaflets can also be supplied. For smaller Travel Plan Network employers, copies can be provided on a one-off basis e.g. in advance of staff relocation, or in support of a promotional event. For major employers (typically with over 250 employees) we can add you to Metro’s outlets service, so you can be sure you have the latest information relevant to your site. Leaflet holders are provided free of charge for easy installation at your workplace. You just need to nominate a member of staff to be responsible for maintaining the display.
