It is fantastic value at £320 for an annual ticket which is equivalent to only £26.67 per month. You can even buy a monthly ticket for just £30 to test the scheme in your organisation.
Compare the costs of a colleague making 5 business trips between Leeds and Halifax per month.
- Cost in business mileage (40p/mile) and car parking: £78.20
- Total costs of standard train fares: £32
- Monthly cost of Pool MetroCard: £26.67 and another 15+ days of travel still to be used.
Reduces your carbon footprint !
Transport is the second biggest contributor of carbon emissions. By encouraging your employees to use public transport instead of their car for business travel, you can reduce your organisations carbon footprint. Removing the need for a car for business travel can also reduce pressure on workplace car parks.
Tried and Tested
Calderdale Council have been trialling Pool MetroCard as one of their business travel options since March 2009. Such has been the success of the scheme, more and more employees are using the tickets as an alternative to the car:
- The number of Pool MetroCard tickets has increased yoy by 180%.
- The number of business miles travelled using Pool MetroCard has grown to over 2000 miles per month.
- Up to 29% of Pool MetroCard mileage were trips previously made by car.
- Initial estimates for the trial indicate an annual cost saving of £1600 and over 890kgs of CO2 saved.
It is easy to manage and employees can book the ticket as and when they need it. They also have access to telephone and free online advice when working out their journey by bus and train.
"We now have Pool MetroCards at six different Council buildings...and we hope to introduce it to other sites as they've been really popular....From a corporate perspective it's helping to reduce car based business travel which is good for our budget and our environmental committments"
