Re-locating a business or office is an immense challenge and can be a source of emotional upheaval for employees, especially if the new location requires a change in how they travel to work. The employees may be concerned about additional fuel or ticket costs, new routes or managing personal committments.
The West Yorkshire Travel Plan Network (WYTPN) has substantial experience in travel planning in West Yorkshire and have developed a re-location package to assist employees and organisations that re-locate within or to West Yorkshire. This service is free to WYTPN members.
What does the package offer?
Divided into 3 simple steps the package offers support and advice to help you and your colleagues make the move. A Business Travel Advisor will be on hand to help youalong he way.
Step 1: Choosing the right location
Choosing the right location: there are many factors to consider when choosing a new site for business and ensuring that your site is accessible by your employees is key. Our free mapping facility can assess potential sites in relation to where your employees live,access to public transport and journey times.
Step 2: Helping your employees make the change
We will assess the new location in relation to where your employees live and identify the most likely modes of transport for them. This may be a combination of public transport, walking, cycling and car sharing.
Your Advisor will create a package of tools and information to help your employees including: a bespoke travel guide to the new site, leaflets and timetables, free bus/train taster tickets (subject to funding), advice on walking, cycling and car sharing and lunctime events to help employees with specific queries.
If your organisation is a member of the WYTPN, they are entitled to an exclusive 15% discount off Corporate Metrocard which can reduce the cost of unlimited bus and train travel to as little as £16 per week (Zones 1-3)
Step 3: Once the move is complete
After the move you may still have employees who are struggling to get to work, perhaps other issues such as overcrowding car parks have developed or you are trying to reduce your organisation's carbon footprint. Your Business Travel Advisor will help you to develop a travel plan to tackle these problems.
