Pool MetroCard Guide and Application form

All the information and tools you need to apply for and manage the Pool MetroCard scheme in your organisation.

How does the PoolMetroCard scheme work ?

The ticket is just like a MetroCard ticket except it has the name of your organisation on it rather than an individual. To use it, the ticket must be accompanied with an employee id card. The ticket will allow travel on buses and trains throughout West Yorkshire. There are no day or time restrictions. You can buy a single monthly ticket for £30 to trial the scheme or an annual ticket for £320. Please note that Pool MetroCard can only be used for business travel and not for personal travel or commuting purposes.

The ticket(s) are held by the employer and should be kept in one secure place in order that it can be centrally booked. Employees should have to sign the ticket in and out when using it. Please note, lost tickets will not be replaced.

How do we join?

Step 1. Does your organisation meet the following criteria?

  • Full member of the West Yorkshire Travel Plan
  • Employees have photo id cards with your organisations name on
  • Employs 30 people or more

Step 2. Simply read the fact sheet, complete the agreement on the back page and return it to Nicola.Whatmuff@wypte.gov.uk. You should receive a response within 5 working days confiming if your application has been successful.

Ordering Tickets & Log Sheets

  • All tickets are for bus and train Zones 1-5.
  • Monthly ticket £30
  • Annual ticket £320

Once your application has been accepted you can place an order for the tickets. To order both monthly and annual tickets please complete the order form and email to Helen.Toseland@wypte.gov.uk. Your order form needs to be received by Metro on the 1st of the month prior to the month you want your ticket to start.

Letter for drivers: all operators and drivers have been informed about the ticket but you may wish to print off this letter when using the ticket for the first time or on a new route.

A Pool MetroCard monitoring spreadsheet. You may wish to monitor the useage of the ticket to analyse the potential benefits of the scheme in terms of cost and CO2 savings.
