The Travel Plan Network helps employers in West Yorkshire to promote public transport, walking, cycling, responsible car use, and smarter working to their employees.
Reducing the number of people who drive to work alone is good for business:
- managing journeys to/from the workplace reduces business travel costs.
- helps to reduce the need, and associated costs of on-site parking.
- creates a more active and healthy workforce with reduced sickness.
- supports the environmental credentials of your company.
- raises your company's community image.
About us
The Travel Plan Network is made up of Metro, the five local authorities of West Yorkshire and the Highways Agency.
We have over 150 employer members from all sizes and sectors, including health trusts, councils and private businesses.
Membership is free to any employer in West Yorkshire who is committed to encouraging their staff to travel to work sustainably.
As a member you are required to:
- be committed to promoting sustainable travel to your employees. This could be implementing Corporate MetroCard scheme one year, and the next improving facilities for bike-users at your site. We ask you to renew your membership each year by telling us what improvements you've made or initatives introduced to encourage your staff to reduce their car use for the commute and/or business travel.
- take part in the Travel to Work Survey every year. We need as many people as possible in your organisation to take part and tell us how they've travelled to work on the day of the survey. It's quick and easy, taking approximately 5 seconds per person to complete. We'll let you know how and when to do it!
