Yorkshire stands to reap over £2bn in economic benefits from the Government's proposed national network of 200mph+ trains. Known as HS2 , it wil cut the journey time from Leeds to London to just 80 minutes.
The HS2 would connect Leeds City Region, Sheffield City region and the "Three Cities" of Derby, Nottingham and Leicester, an area of 6.7million people and 3 million jobs.
Metro, Leeds, York and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, the Leeds City Region LEP and Leeds City Council are urging businesses and residents to show their support by joining the Yes campaign before the DfT consultation closes this Friday 29th July.
